Golf Zone is a Golfzon simulator lounge on Center Road in Avon, in the western Cleveland suburbs. It is a walk-in room with a bar and restaurant, lessons from a certified instructor, leagues and memberships, and simulators that lean toward the serious end of the technology.

The bays run Golfzon systems, which use embedded high-speed cameras and a patented sensor plate with more than 170 infrared modules to read the club and ball. You get replay video and stats after every shot, including ball speed and whether you sliced or hooked it. A green mini-map color-codes the undulations, there are seven play modes for up to six players with adjustable difficulty and weather, and event modes cover flag tournaments, closest-to-the-pin and putting contests. More than 200 courses are loaded, among them Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, Kiawah Island’s Ocean Course, Bethpage Black, Bay Hill and Harbour Town.

Weekday course play is $40 an hour and range time is $30 an hour, dropping to $30 and $25 for early birds who start at 9am. Weekends run $45 for the course and $35 for the range, or $35 and $30 as an early bird. Seniors 60 and over and juniors 16 and under pay $32 an hour or $18 a half hour on the course, and $25 or $15 on the range, Monday through Friday. Figure one hour per person for 18 holes. Wednesday nights the room stays open until 1am by phone booking. Group, party and work-event rates are quoted by phone. Rates change, so confirm current pricing with the venue before you go.

Hours are 9am to 11pm every day.

The bar and restaurant handle drinks and food, and free lot and street parking, Wi-Fi, and a wheelchair accessible entrance, parking lot and restroom are all in place. It is good for kids.

Lessons are with Jeff Blais, who has more than 25 years in golf and a 2012 Golf Academy of America diploma with certifications in teaching, club fitting, club repair and fitness. He works with everyone from beginners to scratch players, and lessons come with discounted practice time for two weeks afterward. Rates are by phone. Leagues and memberships run through the site, and specials are posted at checkout.

Golf Zone fits Cleveland-area golfers who want tour-grade data with their round and a bar to sit at afterward. As of this writing it holds a 4.7 rating from 45 Google reviews.
