X-Golf Portland is an indoor golf simulator venue and sports bar on York Street in Portland, minutes from the Old Port and most downtown hotels. It runs six X-Golf simulator bays plus a private simulator room. It calls itself Maine’s home for indoor golf, and it is as much a place to sit at the bar as a place to train.
The bays use the X-Golf system, which combines camera tracking, infrared lasers, impact sensors and gaming software to read the ball and club. The venue publishes the full list of stats it tracks. Figure about an hour per person for 18 holes when you book. Tee times are required for a guaranteed bay and are booked online.
Bay time is priced by the hour, with lower weekday-daytime rates, and the private room rents at the same hourly rates. A summer membership is offered as well. Rates change, so confirm current pricing with the venue before you go.
Competition runs year-round through seasonal on-site leagues and X-Golf’s national X-Cup tournaments. Lessons come from a USGTF-certified coach with video analysis, in adult and junior packages. The bar is full-service, with local beers, wine and a cocktail list, happy hour on weekday afternoons and trivia nights. Food is shareable: chicken tenders, pizza, fries, artichoke dip and crab rangoon.
Current hours are noon to 9pm Wednesday through Friday, 10am to 9pm Saturday and 9am to 8pm Sunday, closed Monday and Tuesday. On rainy days the tee sheet may open, with a note on the venue’s socials. There is no on-site lot. A few short-term spaces sit out front, and the adjacent garage and a Commercial Street lot are paid options. Family-friendly, Wi-Fi, wheelchair accessible entrance, parking and restroom. As of this writing it holds a 4.7 rating from 37 Google reviews.
